mTAB Survey Analysis services proudly supported the Clemson University Deep Orange 3 vehicle prototype unveiled at last week’s SEMA show.
The Deep Orange program runs the course of two academic years in parallel with Clemson’s two-year masters program in automotive engineering. The program provides students with experience in financial and market analysis, vehicle design, development, prototyping and production planning, and gives them an opportunity to work with automotive industry partners to develop ideas.
Working at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR), the students have free reign to push the boundaries of conventional design and engineering. The Deep Orange 3 vehicle was designed in partnership with Mazda North American Operations and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
As part of the market analysis process, students utilized mTAB’s survey analysis software to gain an understanding of the needs of the target buyer. As a consequence, the student experience with mTAB is identical to the real world experience of an automotive manufacturer’s project planning team.
“We greatly appreciate mTAB’s sponsorship and support of our Deep Orange program.” states Paul Venhovens, BMW Endowed Chair in automotive systems integration, and leader of the Deep Orange program. “Incorporating mTAB within the design process fits our objective of exposing students to the skills they will require for careers within the automotive industry.”
Brad Hontz, President of mTAB Survey Analysis Services adds “We are honored to support the Deep Orange program at Clemson University. It was a pleasure to attend this year’s SEMA event and have the opportunity to meet the students that developed the Deep Orange 3 vehicle. The students are an incredibly creative and inspiring group. We look forward to continuing our support of this meaningful program.”
